Babysitters Wanted! (1 Viewer)

I've been out most of the day so just had a quick look on return when the juv was quite active preening and scratching.

In answer to your first question Pie, the times I have seen the feeding at nest I have heard the adult call first, usually followed by calls from the juv. Then 2 or 3 mins later the adult flies in.

Interesting that the juv climbed out of the nest. I reckon first flight can't be far off. Do we know when this is due? I have certainly seen quite a change in juv over past couple of days especially in tail feathers. I'll look in tomorrow

She hatched 17th and should fledge 16th Today!
She is definitely exploring the idea, but would she go at this downy stage Bri?

Just popped in with my cuppa at 10.35 to be greeted with the adult feeding the juvenile! Adult has now gone, but juvenile continued feeding for a couple of minutes and is now preening again. Also a LOT of serious wing flapping....how exciting!!!

Oh Wendy, wasn't that fantastic, the adult stayed with her for approx a minute feeding & sharing the food.
The downy feathers are coming off in clumps as she's preening frantically.
She is transforming before my very eyes!
It could be today! My heart is going like the clappers Wendy, thank goodness she is resting now!

Lol I'll have another look in the book!;) I believe juv will make some more moves out of, but close to the nest before attempting to take things any further.

Massive changes though. Just look at the feathering around the face now.

16.30 Looks to well fed and content to be bothered to fly off today! Maybe tomorrow;)

I agree Brian, I feel it's safe for me to take a breather now, phew!
It's been a tense day today, Ive been watching her since first thing this morning because I thought "maybe" Lol! She is a teaser!
It was fascinating getting lovely long views of the adult twice today, the baby was anti social at times when she turned back to camera and squirted! :eek!:
Talk about party pooper!

Im in work early tommorow (5.30am) and back 4ish.
I dont have web cam access, so I'm hoping I dont miss her fledge.

My fingers will be crossed for her just in case!

17.36 and I cannot believe the change in her! She is looking more "grown up". Resting in the nest and stretched her wings once.

Watched for quite a while until 19.58 when the camera appeared to freeze! Juve had been very alert and preening all of the time. Ah....... 20.02 and still there!

Aww, I'm so pleased she has us looking out for her when night falls. It's so amazing when I check back & find someone has been with her.
I'm going to miss her tomorrow, will check at first light before I go.
thank you all :t:

8am. She/he has been quite restless for the past half hour. the wind is blowing away the down as she preens and flaps. Jumped onto the branch on the left and walking sround the edge of the nest.

I think today might be the day!

Addition 8.28. Food brought to nest, looked like a Bluetit. She/he's been flapping wings furiously.

I have been viewing regularly but haven't posted much, nothing to add that hadn't already been posted.

A fascinating web cam, Pie!:t:

13.48 Doesn't look like juv is planning on going anywhere as yet! Although now decided to stand up and wing stretch. Still windy down there.
