A visit to Colyford today - great to see the preparations underway for the boardwalk to the island at Blach Hole Marsh. Quite surprised to see so many birds with all the activity going on.

The Ruffs were still together this morning, with Ringed Plovers and dozens of Dunlin. Suddenly the whole lot took off and headed for the river.

At colyford common common this afternoon there was a ( late -ish ) Little Ringed plover (juv) in the muddy pool in front of the platform on colyford marsh.

A Marsh Harrier (juv) was quatering the reed beds at Axe Marsh before it headed off high south.

Also 3 Curlew Sands remained on Blackhole Marsh.

Hi all,

Just got back from Africa trip so thought I'd say hello to my old patch. I won't bore you with all my photos but here is a link to a video I took on Robben Island- I thought it might be of interest as it involves a skua- something I know lots of you love seeing! It is a little/lot bit gruesome and the sound/picture is not great (I'm only just starting off on this digital lark). People have probably seen it many times before but I hadn't so thought it maybe worth sharing! I finally found a cause of all the gulls going crazy, normally I miss the osprey or whatever it is!

Hope everyone is good and enjoying all the birds. Nice to see your blog back too Mr Haig!
