Barr & Stroud Sahara (1 Viewer)

Andrew

Hello,

I have noticed some fair looking roof prism binoculars called Barr & Stroud Sahara 8x42 at about £65 which is appealing.

Does anyone know much about these and what their merits and failings are?

Regards,
Andrew.

Andrew,

I'm pretty sure they are not phase coated. It's a good while ago that I looked at B&S pairs, but if I remember rightly the Sierrra had a noticeably brighter and sharper view but obviously costs a few pounds more. I'd find it hard to recommend the Sahara, but for £65 is there anything better?

David
P.S. I often find myself disagreeing with some of these online reviews, but the B&S site links through to these if it helps:

also this one.

Thanks David. They are now off my potential purchases list. I am now interested in the Sierra 8x42 after reading your links to reviews. They seem like an ideal replacement for my old Bushnell Legends which are falling apart.

Regards,
Andrew.
