Nice one. I miss them a lot.
You know you may be able to eat them around the strait?. They are not worth eating...

There's something with the Shearwaters, and a few seals chillin under the Platform

The tern looks like its probably a White-fronted Tern?

I guess its all in the cooking, but Sooty Shearwater is so good, I'd guess Short-tailed would be pretty much the same

Finally got an ID on a Crested Tern, and just a few mins ago, feeding in the ship lights, White-faced Storm Petrel.

Yeh, me too, despite having ringed hundreds of Stormys and Leaches (St Kilda & Isle of Lewis) at sea I rarely see one

Currently hiding behind Hogan's Island, weather awful, been seeing very occasional Petrels at night, definitely White-faced and something much darker, ships lights turning it orange, appeared to be a Wilsons....

So here's this mornings crop, mostly White-fronted Tern, I did see a Pacific Gull (black band on tail), then going thru the photos, image 7, Kelp Gull ?

So heres yesterdays crop as we departed Hogans Island, after 3 days hiding from the storm.

Pacific Gull is new

Got called up to the bridge to sort a computer yesterday lunchtime, as I walked onto the bridge, I looked forward, ´Flippin Heck (not the exact words I used) a Bonxie. We dont have Bonxies here, but we do have South Polar Skuas. Happy days.

Subantarctic Brown Skua would be far more likely than South Polar I would have thought.
