After watching that programme would you now tell someone at work, party or (insert your social network here) that you are a twitcher?

Again assuming anybody watched it, BBC4 viewing figures are usually very low

Why? Plenty of parents inflict their hobbies on their children, at least she was getting fresh air, exercise and a chance to see different places.

Stephen.

I agree, she may have been bored but as he parents said in the video a 7 year old will show that she's bored rather than an adult.

What's the greater crime - driving while using your mobile or acting like a love sick teenager, hanging on LGRE's every word and whim.

I think Lee's "I am like George michael" comment really translates to " I am an 80's throwback" Trying to work out the Gordon brown comment, maybe it's more visual? Eye see now!!!

Lee's comment about being the George Michael means that he has finally got it off his chest and come clean. He wasn't that genuinely excited about seeing Pacific Swift after all, he had just put a couple of shuttlecocks down his shorts.

Or was it just a reference to dodgy highlights, naff stubble, and acrimonious splits from partners in crime/hangers on?

Did anyone recommend the programme to their friends and family and now regret it because of all the explaining you are going to have to do?!

I thought it was a great programme, well made and pretty true in my my eyes. I'm a twitcher but I have never got anywhere near that level and that programme served as a reminder why I shouldn't!

It did mention the fact that its birders and patch workers that watch and record birds that find the birds. As it showed two birds fairly local to me I was a little disapointed they didn't show the finders (both county recorders) and what it means for a birder to find the bird and allowing other people to enjoy them and what they think of manic twitchers.

I've just spoke to Lee and asked him how he could say that the Gull Garry was watching wasn't the right one when he wasn't even there, he said 'before this river becomes an ocean, before you throw my heart back on the floor...' 'Well what about the bit where you compare yourself to the Prime Minister?' I interrupted. 'Oh baby, I reconsider my foolish notion but I need someone to hold me, but I'll wait for something more' said Lee. Fair enough I suppose.

Sorry, buy if anyone thinks that is the way to treat a young then no wonder our kids have problems.Yes birding is a wonderful hobby and yes she would get plenty of fresh air but she is deprived a regular sleep pattern, food at regular times, deprived contact with friends her own age, probably turns up at school on a Monday looking like a zombie

You are out of order, you have no idea how that child is treated

I sat down with my missus last night to show her that not all birders are weirdos and it can be a great hobby...oh god how wrong could i have been...:eek!:

It was perfect comedy timing tho when she said of LGRE 'who does he think he is?' just as Lee said 'I'm like George Michael'...i nearly p*ssed myself and fell off the bed...:-O Always thought more Andrew Ridgley myself...

We made it through to the end of the cringe worthy 'i love LGRE and would have his babies if i could' Barry program and i turned to the missus and said 'it made us look like a bunch of saddo's' to which she replied 'but that's what you are darling'....fair enough i thought...:t:

I think we saw last night how the kid was treated, not saying for one minute that she isn't loved or neglected but her parents need to look at themselves seriously as to whether carting her round the British isles every weekend is of her best interest.I have a 7 month old daughter and I would love her to become involved with birds but not to that ridiculous level at that age, certain comments which escape me which she made last night clearly showed she wasn't enjoying herself

Oh dear, more careless whispers... Typical for Birdforum.

I managed a screen grab of Lee from last nights programme as a reminder.

I agree with what's been said about Mya, poor sod. My favourite moment was when i presumed the big fella watching the Azorean YLGull was going to chin LGRE for dissing the earlier sighting (or chin Garry for allowing himself to be told he hadn't seen it). I live in hope that it happened but was cut from the programme. My abiding memory was that Garry should have saved a tiny proportion of his gigantic twitching bill and bought himself a new stairway carpet. By the look on his wife's face, i presume he'll be divorced soon and i guess it won't matter!

Enjoyed watching in a voyeuristic sort of way and, as has been said by others, feel quite normal now.

How did YOU feel the programme portrayed you and others, bearing in mind that a lot of extra footage would have been taken?
