Garry, at the last count is on 504 (UK400 Club Guidelines). His 500th species was in fact the delightful INDIAN HOUSE CROW at Cobh town centre in County Cork where Garry infamously wore his T-shirt and was photographed (and understandably upsetting Phil Davis with his actions). What Garry in his wisdom had failed to realise was that his life list was a combined British and Irish List and that his 500th bird was in Ireland but yet his T-shirt stated '500th Bird in BRITAIN'! What an oversight but thankfully our brethren on the other side of the Irish Sea took it in good spirits and there doesn't seem to be too much lasting damage caused.
The film took place in the Autumn of 2009
Since the film's release and its consequent repeat showings, there has been much media interest in filming further episodes but I have told them that following the response it has sparked nationwide, that would not be a good idea. They believe it to be an overwhelming success and are absolutely delighted in the havoc it has created and apparently it is the sort of programme the general public find quite entertaining and amusing. Parts of the birding media have also taken an interest and I have directed them to this forum so that they can find out for themselves the overall reaction. As I said earlier, never before has a birdwatching/twitching-type programme created such emotive response.
