OK! I thought you would all like to know how my search for the best compact binoculars ended. I received the Zeiss 8x20 Victories today from Doug at Cameraland and I am quite pleased with them. To cut to the chase I have decided they work the best of all the compacts for me and I have tried them ALL Including the Bushnell Custom Elite 7x28 and the Leica Ultravid 8x20. First of all I find the SINGLE hinge a big advantage over the double-hinged variety compact. The Zeiss 8x20 Victory is MUCH easier to adjust for your IPD and eliminates a major hassle with compacts. The Zeiss also has a little more eye relief than the Leicas which is what I needed to be comfortable with a compact. I feel the optics are a little better also with a little more resolution and contrasts and a view that is similar to the FL series though of course not quite as good but GOOD! The Zeiss are waterproof and fogproof and sealed from dust which I consider a big plus in compacts because you use them all the time in all types of weather because you have them with you. They fold down almost as small as the Leicas with the ingenius offset single hinge design. Quite a piece of engineering! The case is very nice and uses a belt loop attachment which is ideal for compacts and there is enough room in it for the small strap which is all you really need. The construction and quality are first rate and they FEEL like little FL's which is a big plus. Overall they are a stunning pair of compact binoculars and for me they are the best I have tried so far. So the winner and grand champion is the Zeiss 8x20 B T* Victory Compact.
