Hummm, animal wise it has to be a draw in the UK between an encounter with Common Dolphins off a boat of St Agnes Scilly a few years ago when you could lean over at the bow and see them riding the bow wave, and see them looking up watching us and hear them chirruping sonar calls, and a trip to Scotland where we stopped at a craft shop and were able to see 2 Pine Martin's at point blank range eating a mates shortbread biscuits! Abroad it has to be seeing a Bobcat at point blank range drinking from a pool in Texas, we were with a mate who has been going birding in the states for years and always wanted to see a big cat, he was looking the other way and it was a real panic when he didn't react to us whispering at him... thankfully he did eventually! Deliberate animal encounters highlights in the UK have to be twitching the Humpback Whale in the Clyde years ago and seeing it breaching, a line of people, including several professional photographers, were so gob smacked we all forgot to raise a camera, and twitching the 3 Killer Whales in Cork City Centre! Amazing to see these animals there! A little sad too knowing the outcome too..... Weirdest human ones include a random Bagpipe player in Derbyshire, who I have seen several times at different locations, strange hearing the wailing drifting out of the mist over the water at my local patch Carsington Water etc. Last time I saw him was in a layby by the main road near my house, one imagines he is thrown out of the house to practice! Cheers
