I totally forgot about this, didn't realise it was that time of the year. I have had too much going on with recieving that I was successful at work with my interview so a new job position for me will be starting soon. Don't mind the new job as then I will be able to watch the birds from my work window (always an upside) in the gardens. But I did have a look out every now and then during Sat/ Sun into my rear garden. It is fairly quiet nowadays since the 4th December when a Sparrow Hawk killed a bird (possibly a House Sparrow), since then I have rearly seen any House Sparrows in the rear garden. In November my neighbour reported seeing 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers in my garden. But over the weekend (various times, at only about 5mins duration) I have had in the rear garden list: couple of dozen Starlings 5 Blue Tits 3 Robins 3 Great Tits 7 Long Tailed Tits (first time I have sighted them in my garden) 3 Coal Tits 5 Dunnocks 3 Wrens 2 Garden Warblers 2 Magpies 1 Whitethroat 9 Blackbirds 2 Song Thrushs 5 Feral Pigeons 2 Collard Doves 4 Woodpigeons 2 Stock Pigeons 2 Doves/ Pigeons creamy whiteish in colour with a hint of pale brown. Would these be Turtle Doves or one of the other Pigeons/ Doves. In the front garden hedge about 30-40 House Sparrows. These have been constant visitors and only use the front feeder, they have never been into the rear garden (they don't know the fest they are missing out back). So one question has to be asked about the House Sparrows. The ones out front come from the streets facing the east- south- south west of the house and never go over the top into rear garden. While the regular House Sparrows visit the rear garden from the west and north gardens, streets and local park, and never go over the top to the front garden feeder. These rear garden House Sparrows haven't been seen in great numbers since the Sparrow Hawk killed a bird on 4th December, maybes odd 2 or 3, but never in the dozens/ 40-50 that were regular visitors. Have these been scared off by the Sparrow Hawk (which is nearly 2 months now), or could it be some other course. Anybody have any ideas? I am pleased with what I did see over the weekend and surprised me as to what was seen (variety).
