Bill Oddie leaving Springwatch (1 Viewer)

Peewit

Once a bird lover ... always a bird lover
I have never minded Chris Packam at all. He is keen, gets his point across, and I think he will get along with Kate very well. :-O

I think he will attract a much younger audience too. :t:

Hope Bill is back in the future!

On balance I think he is probably the best choice. I had been favouring Mike Dilger but, after watching him on the One Show recently, I am not sure he would be up to the task of fronting such a big programme. Chris Packham certainly has the experience and the knowledge, so I will be interested to see what the programme is like with him in Bill's place. I'm looking forward to seeing all the wildlife at Pensthorpe once more. :t:

I'm quite happy to see Chris get this job, someone who knows what he's talking about plus he's experienced of presenting TV programmes, although I find he's often been a bit on the sidelines of programmes. As for what it'll be like without Bill - probably not as lively for starters!

I didn't see the last Autumnwatch, but the last Springwatch I felt they got the balance perfect between live and recorded stuff they showed.

I suppose this means we will see more Craghoppers and Nikon and less Country Innovation and Swarovski. Quite important for CI, I would have thought.

I will be interested to see how well he copes the first time all their monitors are full of unpopulated badger sets and empty nest boxes. I am sure he will busk it admirably (I think.) ;)

I'm keeping out of this one. There were some disapproving comments the last time this aspect of Chris Packham's speech idiosyncracies was discussed. I'm all for a quiet life. ;)
