Oh god - NOT Packham :eek!: I just can't stand him - he just has a rather arrogant air about him :C

Mike Dilger I would LOVE to see doing it - he is the sort of enthusiastic person we need who does know his stuff. Nick Baker too gets the thumbs up :t:
I'd like to see Dvid Lindo have a bash at it too. I love his column in Birdwatching but haven't yet managed to catch him on The One Show - how often is he on?

Let's just hope the BBC pick someone who knows his stuff and comes across as friendly and inviting and passionate about the subject to encourage more folk to join us in this crazy obsession of ours :-O:t:

Bill Oddie WILL be missed but will the programme now become too"twee" with Kate Humble and co-presenter giving us a lot of smiling platitudes.
We need someone with a bit of "edginess" about them to stop the programme becoming like the series which was presented recently by Alan Titchmarsh, which was "gooey" in the extreme.

I bet they will end up getting someone in like Ben Fogle and thus turning Springwatch into yet another daytime TV-like gloop-fest, e.g. accentuating stuff like that seal-stroking crap last season and even before that the whole "Oh nooooo... Jamie!!!" rubbish.

Bill Oddie really knew his stuff combined with a good presenting style IMHO which is going to be hard to replace.

clearly this show needs two presenters, there is no one to replace simon king so leave him on location.
the other presenter needs to be very knowledeable with all aspects of wildlife so that leaves just mike dilger????

It's got to be Mike Dilger, he has such a great personality just like good old Bill and his enthusiasm for wildlife in general is second to none. I will miss Bill & his wonderful knowledge of birds, Mike Dilger taking his place would soften the blow for me.

Would love to see Bill do some more of his birding programmes, he sure is No 1 for me.

After looking at the various suggestions in this thread I think my vote would go to Mike Dilger. He has the knowledge – of wildlife in general and botany as well as birds – is already involved with CBeebies and is an engaging presenter, with a good sense of humour. I enjoy his contributions to the One Show. Right, how do I get the BBC to give him the job?

I do like Mike Dilger as well, he always seems so happy in what he is doing. Can't say I have seen Iolo Williams presenting so cannot pass judgement.

Johnny Kingdom & Ben Fogle no thank you, there voices is the grate on me. Kate Silverton a big NO. Alan Titchmarsh what does he know about wildlife, the same could be said about Charlie Dimmock....might as well have me reading from a book presenting it.

I think though the perfect person can be found here on Birdforum.....Dr Manjeet Singh [he could be the new Simon King]...could you imagine the film crew following him around on the outside broadcasts with all the scrapes he gets into and at the end of presenting you would see him sat back against the tree stump with his can of ale.

A copy of something I've posted elsewhere;

Better still, no on-screen presenters.

Do it like they used to do the "Survival" series and others like it, not a presenter in sight except for the occasional glimpse on the occasional prgramme of Des and Jane Bartlett.

Let the wildlife get a look in, and then I might just switch on the telly and look in myself.

If Chris Packham gets it i'll never watch it again just my thoughts.

 Quite agree! As his often repeated opinion is that all species seriously affected by Global Warming should be left to go the way of the Dodo, I couldn't accept him.

What about that Hugh Fernley whit ing doo dah not only would he tell you about the wildlife he would also show you how to cook them!
Please not Packham he's like the Jonathan Woss of wildlife, No'one can replace Bill so why not scrap the programme and do something new?

I feel sorry for Bill as he has been getting quite a lot of complaints against him on the last couple of shows connected with Springwatch. Some of the 'negative' news items about Kate and himself has not helped matters.

If he had not done the dressing up. like Goodies thing (in his former TV life), and the childish childsplay , he may be in a better position now

I hope that he has not given up TV all together now, unless of course he has something else going on as in 'not well'. I pray to goodness not.

He is a very knowledgeable person and I will miss him. In his serious mode he is very interesting as his wildlife knowledge is something to behold.

If I where to chose someone to replace him I would like to see Macheila Strachan doing Spring/Autumn watch. She is just superb on the TV.

Like her a lot and she is a really enthuastic presenter, and deserves the new position anyday. Need some more girls as wildlife presenters me thinks.
