I think I've read this suggestion elsewhere but I'd like Charlie Brooker to take over from Bill. He doesn't know anything at all about birds, but he'd be entertaining, particularly if he's allowed to swear. I'd watch anyway.

If he can't do it then I think McKinney would be good for the same reasons. Although obviously Tom knows about birds ;).

What about Matt Baker, ex of Blue Peter, and now doing wildlifey stuff like Crufts and 'Open Country' on the radio.

Or that nice Clare Balding?

... but please not anyone that giggles!

I just know it's going to be Graham Norton, the beeb use him on everything, just to justify his high salary

At least , with Graham Norton, there would be a running commentary of jokes!

Seriously, though,if he knew anything about the subject he would be streets ahead of Mr Titchmarsh, who is sickly sweet and who I just cannot bear to watch!

Chris Packham..... A proper birder and naturalist. His enthusiam is great and he's at home in front of the camera. What else do you need?
Johnny Kingdom is a top man but knows lots about badgers, Red Deer & poaching & little about birds. Alan Titchmarsh was great on gardener's world, awesome on plants scientific names & a good presenter. But for wildlife no no no. Got to be Packham

I think that Mike Dilger who appears as the wildlife presenter in the One Show Mon-Frid 7-7.30pm is one is a million anyday. One of the lesser known presenters, but he is excellant at putting the facts across to us the viewers.

Not seen too much of him on other wildlife shows yet, but I think he will go down the road of being one of the better presenters. He is so with it, and very wildlife orientated anyday. Love his get up and go anyday.

Also Ellie Harrison - Nature and Wildlife Reporter is very good as what she does too on the One show.

Mike was a regular presenter on Nature's Calendar (2006/07), Nature's Top 40 (shown at a rotten time slot in December 08) and CBeebies. Watched him talk at the Birdfair - very humble, unassuming, jolly, educated, intelligent, knowledgable, enthusiastic.....gets my vote every time!

Yes, he's probably the person I'd most like to see do it after Bill. Really sucks to hear Bill's not going to present it this year, I really liked him on Springwatch.

I do hope there's another Oddie series on telly sometime soon though, always enjoyable to watch - can't beat some good filming of UK wildlife with Bill nattering away in the background. :t:
