Binocular bargains (5 Viewers)

I saw that and copied a couple of the photos to my computer so I could get an enlarged look. The resolution degraded but it looks to be as though the box says 10X50 and the focus knob says 10X50, not 12X50 as listed in the heading. The ad text implied to me that the pictures are of the actual item for sale.

I sent the seller an e-mail about an hour ago asking for clarification, but no response as of yet.

The best I could tell from the box label, the serial number began with 83, so that would make it a 2013 date. Again, the photo degraded quite a bit at that resolution, so I might be wrong.

One photo shows a plastic bag on the STOP brochure. Is that the camera attachment that was included a couple of years ago?

Follow-up on post 2633:

I sent the seller an e-mail Saturday morning describing the discrepancy in the listing and then explicitly asked if the item for sale was a 10X50 or a 12X50. As of this Wednesday evening, I have not received any reply from the eBay seller 1stoptrading407. Instead, the seller relisted the item without correcting the listing.

If a seller relists an ad with the same conflicting information after being notified and will not respond to a question that could result in a potential sale, imagine what the communication would be like if there were a problem with the sale. If someone does go with this vendor, be sure and first check on any Paypal amount limits. I seem to recall that there are restrictions in some types of transactions.

Great advice Bruce! I've come across similar issues when attempting to get clarification or had more questions about a listing. Sellers who promptly and completely returned answers were those I had No Trouble with in transactions. Sellers who skirted the questions or either delayed or didn't respond at all, never got my business, no matter how good the deal appeared!

I sent them a message too asking for clarification. No response. They are now SOLD however!

I looked into that seller's store. He, she had a 12x50 Swarovision EL and a 10x42 El listed. Because that seller seemed to have decent reviews, I wondered if he had mixed up some of the photos..

I did not download the photos to make my eye see any markings. I just took your word for what you saw.

Rob.

Yes, I received my Carbon Fiber tripod with the plate included---- I showed it off to my local birding club!
The birding club is Herndon Bird Club of Elizabethton, TN.

Mine arrived with the plate.
My aluminium tripod arrived without plate, while my carbon fibre one did come with a plate. I removed the Brunton head from my CF one anyway, replacing it with an Oben ball head with Arca-Swiss type QR fittings. For the moment I'm using the plate on my aluminium Brunton and I've ordered compatible plates (for Vivitar Pro-Line or various ProMaster brand tripods; part #5924) via eBay. I'm not sure if I'll keep the Brunton head or go with Arca-Swiss type fittings for all my assorted tripods (I have a few, which will get expensive so I'm leaving it for now).

When you posted, the price was about $440. For anyone who has not clicked on the link lately, the price has now dropped to below $400......
Good deal but the red case looks like a girly purse. I think that is why they are on clearance. You would have to spend $150 to replace the case with a real Leica case.

Yes, or you could spend $14.99 on a Lowe camera case that works just fine.

It is not a requirement to carry a Leica binocular in a Leica case......

Thankfully not! Last month, someone caught me carrying my Leica type 240 in a Billingham bag. Quelle horreur! At least this month, when caught, it was a working man's Domke...

Ordered the V. Viper 10x50 case [from Amazon] for my EL 10x50 SV. Much more compact soft case, well made, fits the big EL + bino strap snugly and protects the bins very well from non catastrophic accidents. Also opens much quicker (no zipper noise).

Liked how that worked out so well, I ordered the Talon 8x32 case [from Vortex] for my El 8x32 SV's...works just as great as the big case!

Actually, theft security is enhanced due to the V-emblem, lack of green housing fabric and non-Swaro size!! :t:

If you're looking for a 10X42 Field Pro, the buy it now on these is a deal. Call the SN in to make sure they came from a dealer.

Region of origin is a valid question. The text says the binocular was purchased in October, 2015. As I recall, the Profield update models hit the US market about the third week of November, 2015, but were available in Europe around the September/October time frame.

The seller may be in the optic business and received an early demo here in the States. His sales history shows two Swaro like new units in November, so he does get his hands on various Swaro binoculars.

$197.45 is the lowest price i've seen for the Bushnell Elite 7 x 26 Custom Compact. It's at Amazon.

**edit** I was wrong. Here is a new pair for $178.99. Seller only has a 90.9% positive feedback though.
