Don't let anybody catch you with that case in Texas.

Will fill that obnoxious case with lead as soon as the UPS guy drops it off! Seriously what do you think about Texas? The four big metros of Austin, Dallas, Houston and SA are the fastest growing in the US. Houston is the most ethnically diverse city in the country. It had the first openly gay mayor of a major city.

I feel very safe in Texas even outside the four metros as long as I don't get off I-10, I-35 and I-45 ;)

Eagle Optics has all of their Atlas Optics Intrepids (7x36, 8x43 and 10x43) on sale for $249.00.

http://www.eagleoptics.com/products/atlas-optics?query=intrepid&emailid=20150505x6

That is a fantastic deal. The optical performance of those models was/is entirely comparable with the Zen Ray ED2.

I'm quoting this post of Frank's from last May to point out the same three AO Intrepids are down to $199 now. I vaguely recall seeing that price a while back so it may be nothing new. Sub $200 price for nice binos, ED glass,, unconditional lifetime warranty, at your choice of magnification. Similar to ZR ED2 and Vortex Talon from what folks on the forum have said before.

I've been looking for a 7X with big FOV, or a nice 10X so I'm considering both. For my needs, I wish they weighed a little less though. Any better options under $200?

EuroHD joy

I never though I'd like compact binos, but I'm really enjoying my new Euro HD 8x32s from Cabela's ($559). They're much brighter than I anticipated. The 10x32s were exceptional too, however I chose the former for the usual reasons of FOV, contrast, ... The first pair of the 8x I tried were defective. Upon inspection, I noticed inhomogeneity in the prism coating in the right tube. I don't know how that unit made it past QC. The replacement has no issues, fortunately.
I also tried out some Zeiss Conquests 8x32s. I found them very comfortable and very sharp, however their color accuracy and color vibrancy lagged behind the Euros, and they cost $200 more, so they went back to the NY dealer where I ordered them. (BTW, that particular dealer has a written rtn policy that states that they charge a 15% restocking fee for any defaced or missing packaging, yet he charged me the fee ($112.50) a priori when I arranged for the rtn. He has yet to respond to my enquiry about this matter. I'll reveal this dealer's name to any reader who PMs me.)
Bottom line: I'm very satisfied with my new binos and I'm having trouble putting them down. Let's hope Cabela's isn't acquired by Bass Pro Shops..

416.99

Douggie sale that was 406.99 until the first unit sold and went up to 416.99. I called CL w/me sad tale of woe about how the price changed on Amazon whilst in me cart and they relented honouring 406.99. I promptly added the Vortex harness, so I still spent 416.99 though figured the extra ten spot was worthy.
On the Auction site he goes into detail about using these in a demo event, so open box inspected w/box & all.

I had considered the Nikon Action 16x50 EX ATB. They run $174 new. I do not mind a porro, yet I didn't need the one extra X. I swapped 2 1/3 lb 3.125 EP for 2 3/4 3.73 EP and the roof is more compact. Naturally I was influenced by the close focus as well.

Hate to bust your bubble but you may want to call CL back and ask for there 20% off deal

http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=319282

Your bins would be 399.99 with that deal or if you go with the Demo pair it would be 386.99 (429.99 10%off) o:D

Woo Hoo!
You never burst me bubble when you show how to save moolah that's already spent.
I called them back and they credited the card 20 clams.

Thanks!
Betwixt CL, the auction site and Amazon I noted three differing prices. I couldn't quite figure how CL price was higher. Until you showed me the light.
Luckily for me I didn't bite earlier at Amazon and when the price increased in the cart it forced me to call in to CL. They were very cordial in refunding the 20 spot. Had I purchased through Amazon I would be SOL unless I could've canceled the order.

:t: Awesome!

Some really great deals to be had using the 20% off bins and 15% off Spotting Scope offer at CameraLand. If I had more room on my CC I would be in some trouble for sure :-O
