Yes the Meopta is very good. I had them few years back. Very sharp. No blackout. If it was like $500 that would be even better. At 32 oz weight tough competition these days.

Jumped on the deal of Bushnell Legend M 8x42 for $153. Package was delivered this morning. A few observations:
1. Diopter ring is made of metal. I know this because the binocular body was cold when I first opened the package and the diopter ring has the cold touch of metal.
2. Focus wheel is very hard to turn when it's cold (greasy oil type?). Once warmed up, it turns very well. A little backlash is observed on my copy.
3. Optical performance is superb. I compared it with my Leica Trinovid 8x42 (2012-2015 model) and Cabelas Guide 8x32. I can't detect any CA in the center view of Bushnell, while Leica has noticeable CA and Cabelas has even more.
4. Color balance is neutral in Bushnell, while Leica color is a bit on the warmer (pinkish) side and Cabelas is on the cooler (bluish) side.
5. Bushnell is the brightest and most transparent one among three. Given its 92% transmission, this is expected.
6. Ocular lens cover doesn't fit sung in due to the bump of diopter ring.
7. Coating on the object looks very high end, magenta and purple tint with very low reflection.
8. Overall build quality is not bad, although there are a few places manufacturer needs to improve on its build and assembly precision.

I am really impressed by the optical performance of Bushnell Legend M 8x42 during daytime use. It makes me sad that my Trinovid is obsolete in terms of optics now.

I found the earlier Bushnell Legend Ultra focus became unusable in temps below freezing. Also, like the M, colour very neutral, whites very clean, CA very low and centrefield very sharp.

If the build quality and reliability is better with the M, then the price is definitely a bargain.

Great Grey Looking Out
Another Bushnell Legend M up at a great price, this time 10x42 on Ebay, if you first put it in your cart, it will take 20% off (look for the "you will get this offer" and "up to 20% off" in red after it is in your cart. Buy it now is currently $216.99, plus tax to my state (not shipping), minus the 20%, for a total of $186.61 It says NIB (new in box-never opened) in the description.

You can also add the code P20SAVENOW manually when you checkout just to be sure you get the deal. Good luck, only 4 to grab!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/391891722124

It says there are 4 left after I bought mine. The free shipping is expedited 3 day too! Oh, and 60 day returns, and you pay return postage. The seller VMinnovations has a 99.7 feedback rating.

Chuck, is that the 10X or 8X, if it is 8X you could sell it here or CN forum. I have one 10X32 and one 10X42 all I need, the 42 is a bit shakey.

Meopta USA Price Reductions

Doug of Cameraland posted a quick note on another site that Meopta has reduced the price of their binoculars.

As an example, the Meopta MeoStar 10X42 HD is now $999.95.

http://cameralandny.com/products.ht...#467781&catalog[sort][on]=relevance&x=18&y=14

This model is supposed to be the same as the Cabela's Instinct Euro HD 10X42 other than styling and the shape of the focus knob. The normal Cabela's price is $1,299.99. Cabela's does put it on sale a few times a year for $899.

http://www.cabelas.com/product/hunt...s-instinct-hd-binoculars/2629888.uts?slotId=7

Personal opinion, but the styling of the Meopta is nicer looking than the recent restyling done by Cabela's.

The price on the Meopta right at the moment for B & H Photo and Adorama is $1,189.99.

Doug also mentioned a reduction on the MeoPro line of binoculars. I do not know about the scopes.

Jan ... Maybe! Doug has been posting daily reports from the Shot Show, two days so far, but he has not met with Meopta yet.

Here are the reports on the Cameraland website, but some readers need to be aware that the Shot Show is geared strongly toward tactical and hunting markets, not birding. The reports do report heavily on those products along with some binocular updates.

Bruce:

Thanks for the updates, Doug at Cameraland is a great place to purchase
optics.

The new Cabela's Instinct is in the running for the ugly binocular styling
award. That has been mentioned in another post.

Cabelas has the old Swarovski CL 8x30 and 10x30 on sale - $779.88 & $849.88. Nothing I'm interested in but figure someone else might be....

I have no affiliation with Cabelas other than being a customer for the last three decades or so.

Optics Planet 10% Off Superbowl PUNT Coupon Code

Optics Planet has a 10% Off coupon code promotion going on right now. It requires a $50 minimum order. The offer ends 2/5/18 at 11:59 PM CST.

https://www.opticsplanet.com/g-spcema-10off218.html?_iv_gridSize=120

This stacks well with some other promotions on the site.

They are offering Optics Planet gift cards with some products. For example, a $150 card is added to the shopping cart for Zeiss Conquest HD 10X42 and 8X42 models along with the Zeiss FL 8X32 and other models. This is in addition to the 10% discount.

Optics Planet has a VIP pricing program where lower prices appear when the shopper is logged into their account. (I am not sure if a purchasing history is required.) The 10% discount looks to apply to the lower prices.

Here is a great deal on a Nikon Monarch HG 8X42. B & H price is $969.76.75. Optics Planet VIP pricing is $868.99. Final price after the PUNT code is $782.09 with free shipping. There is also a great VIP deal on the Opticron Imagic 8X42 BGA VHD which is equivalent to the Tract Toric. There are other models besides these. One will have to log on and check to see if there is VIP pricing on anything they are interested in.
