That was a very detailed ad and funny. Just like the ones depicted by advertisers in Bill Cooks book, the advertising is still around for well....garbage.

Nikon 8x32 SE CF

I am aware that the Nikon 8x32 SE CF is sort of a cult binocular for some around here: there are currently 2 on sale on the German version of the famous auction site, one goes for 629 € and the other for 695 €. I don't have any relationship whatsoever with them, but just thought it could be of interest (most likely for European forum members, but who knows!). :)

Since there's no Spotting Scope bargains thread I'll post this here.

Cabelas is selling the old version of the Vortex Razor spotting scope for some pretty good prices. The 65mm is $699 and the 85mm is $999. These were fairly well regarded scopes that were made in Japan if that's important to you (the new Razor in made in China). They can also take Swarovski eyepieces without any adapters.

The new Razor scope is assembled in the USA. The last two years of the old style Razor scope were made in China. Talked directly with Vortex about this when I was considering the Razor. Still a great buy for a very nice scope.

Ahh, I just checked mine and you're correct. Made in China. I'd read some threads that talked about them going from Japan to China with the newest model, which is where I was basing my info from, but obviously that was incorrect.

Unfortunately Alpen is out of business and therefore there is no warranty. Vortex and Nikon both have no fault warranties. I've see the viper 10x42 on promos for $309 and the Monarch 7 is regularly available for 25% off at LL Bean. I agree the Teton is a good buy at that price but would rather spend a little more and get a good warranty from a stable company.

Bushnell is offering a $70 rebate on Engage Binoculars 11/1-12/31/18. Best price I found was on Amazon. $212 for 10x42 and $257 for 8x42. I just received my 10x42s today and my initial impression is positive. The only thing i don't like is the focus wheel is stiff and focusing speed a little slow. The locking diopter works great and is a nice touch. I already submitted my rebate form online and Amazon is listed as one of the online retailers. Quite the deal for $142! https://promotions.vistaoutdoor.com/EN/US/Promo/17/90/EntryForm
