However, for day use, I often prefer either the optically superior single-eye view of my Kowa TSN-661 spotting scope or Nikon SE 12x50 to the bright somewhat fuzzy and difficult to focus big views through the Garrett Signature 22x85. </p><p></p><p>At night, for viewing open star clusters, the Garrett Signature 22x85s come into their own as you point them to the Sagittarius and Scorpius constellations in the southern skies of summer (viewing from the Northern Hemisphere). </p><p></p><p>And in case the discussion at Cloudy Nights is too much to wade through--and you are itchin' to pull the trigger on the Garrett Signature 22x85 for daytime closeups at the bird bath in the backyard--you better have a big backyard because these big boys have a close focus of 275 ft. That's right! The close focus measures just under 92 yards.
