Bird Hit My Window & Another Bird (1 Viewer)

I heard a loud thump on my window and this bird was unfortunately killed by the impact. I'm keeping my blinds on this window partially closed from now on. I only have a photo from this angle because a cat soon picked up the bird. I'm hoping it is not a robin. We have a nesting pair of robins at the corner of the house, and I really like those guys. Looks a little too small to be a robin anyway.

I'm new to WV (even though I was born here 60 years ago) and seeing some birds I'm not familiar with. I couldn't get a good shot of the second pictured bird. I saw it clearly but by the time I was able to take a photo it was not in a good position. I saw that it had a jet-black head with a snow-white breast and tan wings. First time seeing a bird like that. Thanks

I'm glad the dead bird was not one of our robins. I didn't think it was but I saw the color. The robins are my alarm clock, I hope they nest by my bedroom window every season.

The Eastern Towhee sounds right. I looked up photos of West Virginia birds and that was the closest match. First time seeing that bird. Thanks

Birds hit that window once in a while but most shake it off and fly away. One bird that hit it hard was down for almost an hour but finally got up and flew away. I've been leaving the vertical blinds cracked open on that window and that seems to work but I was videoing a doe and her fawns in the side yard that morning and left the blinds open.

I hung 2x2 inch black netting from the eave of my house in front of the window and it eliminated bird strikes 100%. Cats are actively discouraged from coming on my property.
I'll keep that in mind if keeping the vertical blinds partially closed doesn't work, thanks. The cat that picked up the bird showed up for the first time the day the bird hit the window and I haven't seen it since. The cat had a collar. I've only seen one other stray cat in 7 months and I gave that one a good scare and haven't seen it since. I was previously living in the Philippines where feral cats and dogs are everywhere and a big problem.
