Bird of Prey identification - Harlow, Essex (1 Viewer)

Hi,
Need some help please with bird of prey identification. I live in Harlow, Essex and yesterday heard an unusual bird of prey call.

We often have red kites circling and are pretty easy to identify. The calling I heard yesterday was very different (which is why I noticed it) and lead me to go on to YouTube to try and identify what it was. It was reasonably high so I couldn't pick out anything by sight to help me.

The closest calling sound I could match it to on YouTube was a Red-tailed Hawk. I find it unlikely to be this bird. Can anyone shed any light on what this could be?

Thanks in advance.

I just tried playing Red-tailed hawk calls to see what they sound like and to my ear teh call was very similar to that of Commom Buzzard which is much more likely to occur in Essex and would be a much better starting point for your mystery raptor.

Thank you Stuart. Yes, just listened too and will go with that as a match. I can now sleep tonight knowing that investigation is complete!
