Last Sunday's LA Times featured a crossword puzzle with a bird theme. See if you can get the bird puns in the longer clues (2 to 4-word phrases). These are common phrases that have been altered with a bird's name to create a bit of a pun. For example, if the clue is "Birds who miss the dance? (13 letters)", the answer would be "Square Finches" (which sounds like square inches).
