The Yukon Firefall 20x50 is due in tomorrow. The Yukon Firefall 12-36x50 showed up today. Some initial impression comments. 1. The feel of it is very solid. It also has the nicest feeling rubber armor I have ever felt on any optic....seriously. It feels like silk when you run your hand across it. 2. The focus is butter smooth and seems very precise. 3. It is a very lightweight scope. Optically I am not entirely sure what to make of it. The image is decent but it has been such a long time since I owned a 50 mm scope that I don't really have a basis for comparison. At the 12x setting the image is bright and constrasty. It is not as sharp as I would like it to be but it is acceptable for backyard viewing of feeders or possibly work at a shooting range (as I know folks will use it for both types of applications). Turning the zoom up to 24x yields a practically identical image, all be it larger and slightly dimmer. At 36x the image is significantly dimmer but still usable. I would, again, expect better sharpness but I could live with it if I had to. The interesting part is that the field stop disappears as you zoom in. You lose it at about 15x and then you just get a very fuzzy, indistinct edge. Eye relief also gets pretty tight as you go up through the zoom range. From what I have seen so far it is probably going back. I don't have a problem toting the P65 around and I have a Promaster Infiniti Elite ED 65 mm due in shortly.
