What brought you to New York then, Larry?

My wife and I went to New York City (Brooklyn) in the early part of June last year to visit our oldest son. While in New York we went to a Metz game (rained out), birded Central Park, a park at Park Slope and the best site, Jamaica Bay. I wish we could have stayed at the bay longer but we had other things to do and had to head back to Brooklyn. That certainly was a great place to visit.

Sounds like you almost had a perfect NY day (besides the Mets getting rained out :-( ). Come back soon!

Ah, so it was Brent who Larry met when I was there on the same day that I asked if I may have met Larry that he thought I might have been Brent! That's involved, and this was all before Brent found his way here!
Now let's see, Mute Swans, Canada Geese, Mallard, Fulvous Whistling-Ducks (saw them too), Glossy Ibis, and Northern Pintail? I know Jamaica Bay quite well, and I still don't think I'm right!

I've seen all those species at good ol' Jamaica Bay, but not all on that occasion. So far there is only one species left that hasn't been mentioned (and one or two which people keep leaning on that is incorrect).

Soon I'll tell you what the incorrect species is, if you can't get it in three more guesses.

Mute Swan, Canada Goose, Mallard, Northern Pintail, Little Blue Heron, Fulvous Whistling Duck and Gadwall.

Not exactly, Larry.

Remeber everybody, these Whistling Ducks turned up in May... so what would the waterfowl situation be like then?

"...so what would the waterrfowl situation be like then?", well, Mallards and Canada Geese....and a smattering of other waterfowl.

Mute Swan, Canada Goose, Mallard, Northern Pintail, Fulvous Whistling Duck, American Wigeon and Gadwall. (Am I "getting warmer"?)

:eek!: No you're not... the smattering becomes a few overwinterers and the local breeders by May. 39 points.

Ok, here goes:
Canada Goose, Fulvous Whistling Duck, Mallard, Mute Swan, Glossy Ibis.

Not bad! Not right, but a little closer to the bullseye.

OK here's the hint: no representitives of the family Ardeidae, but five species in Anatidae.
