I'm another one here that lives with the highs and lows of depression (never had proper diagnosis so unsure if it's bipolar, but seems that way. Having a diagnosis or 'label' won't help in any way so i'm not particularly interested in what it is exactly), anxiety and associated symptoms, haha! I've always found being outdoors and away from cities/crowds or people so good for me, emotionally, mentally (dare I say spiritually?) and physically.. I think it has to do with our ancestry... we didn't evolve to sit in grey concrete offices, sat in front of computers, on phones, in front of televisions... and it appears to have a negative impact on our health generally. I think returning to the outdoors and escaping the 'society' we have tied ourselves to and which we now depend on so much is so much better for our health generally. Having that contact with the landscape, seasons, weather, plants and wildlife brings us back in touch with ourselves.. I think the most accessible forms of wildlife are birds... and I think they remind us of ourselves and how we would like to live. My blood pressure drops when I see and hear birds... there are good for my soul :) Lisa
