SEVEN pairs? By heck - I've just got the one pair now - my 8X42s - I recently sold my 'zoom' ones on eBay... okay go on s******... I wouldn't listen when I bought the b*ggers - I know now though don't I? :t: If it brings ye pleasure, AND you can afford it then I'm all for it... unless you're buying something just 'for the sake of it' then I can't see any harm... My addiction's cheaper - I get the charity RSPB badges and put a £1 in the box for each one - doesn't work out too bad either! Oh aye... that and my Bird Books... I'm reading loads... just got one on House Sparrows and am currently rading one on the behaviour of Blackbirds (one of three Blackbird Books I have). Have to say, since I 'got into' Birding, I reckon it's stopped me watching a lot of rot on the television and given me a great hobby to explore... plus I'm learning stuff all the time (hey - I even know Latin now - Biggus Impressius eh?) - The main thing is - it's not 'taken over my life' - that to me WOULD be a negative rather than a positive... it helps me cope, but it's not something that I HAVE to do... even though it's something that I WANT to do. Otherwise, I'd have concerns about getting certain OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) tendencies - and that's something I'm not taking the pee out of, because it certainly affects one's abilities to function on a day to day basis. Anyhow - as to the garlic thing - I did have a garlic bread last night - no cure though, but I'm not chewing a garlic bulb either - Gawd, it'll have my breath reeking! :t: N. P.S. Sancho - I don't think your collection is 'stupid' and I secretly suspect that neither do you - if it's what you enjoy - good on you, just because others can't appreciate it, then s*d 'em! :t:
