Cranberry

Just had an email from a friend - 2 Little Egrets seen as an "office tick" at Standon Mill SJ8235 on the stream - presumably one of them the regular at Whitmore which is only about a mile away. Standon Mill lies between Standon and Cranberry

Swallow Moss And Surrounding Area

Popped over the back roads on the way home from work in the hope of seeing some migrants on the moors. Not much in the way of small birds apart from Chaffinch and Reed bunting. Did manage to see 2 Red grouse in flight, I actually heard them before I saw them, and a few pairs of feeding Curlews.

Had a call from Mick, a good friend of mine who told me there was a Brent goose on the small lake on Brookhouse road, I looked for it at 5.30pm but no sign of it, maybe it's moved up to Blake hall if anyone wants to check in the morning. I did see a couple of Oysts but nothing else apart from Canadas and Mallards.

Cool - worth checking through that lot for something unusual! The Lap Bunt was at about this time of year in 2008...

Cheesedale, Brent Goose mecca!

Following a tip-off this morning, I managed a few minutes looking at the Brent Goose before I had to go to work. I even missed breakfast! :-O But I did get to work on time.

As Neil said, no sign at dusk, or at both Blake Hall Fishery (although viewing is not easy without entering) or Hales Hall Pool.

The Void

6 Goosander (site record count!) present late afternoon, also a smart male Stonechat and a group of 40 odd Mipits, looking rare, as they feed on the unique clumpy, tundra-like habitat of the Void ;)
