My big worry about joining brochure tours now is who else might be in the group, and most of my trips are private ones with birders I know and guides who have been recommended.Company owners and directors would soon dispense with the services of any leaders who were consistently not up to all aspects of the job. In my married days we used to go on commercial trips regularly and twice had cause to complain about the leaders not being up to the job: one company gave us 10% discount off our next booking (which I held on to until a very expensive trip that I fancied !) and the other never even replied to our complaints, but they dropped the leader.
