Syn. or subspecies <em>Amazilia brevirostris brevirostris</em>/<em>whitelyi</em>] </p><p>● in the invalid "<em>Eremita whitelyi</em>" BOUCARD 1895 (<a href="http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/127771#page/234/mode/1up" target="_blank"><u>here</u></a>) [Syn. <em>Phaethornis ruber episcopus</em> GOULD 1857] All three = <strong>Henry W</strong>… [Junior<span style="color: blue">*</span>] </p><p></p><p>----------------</p><p></p><p>I assume we´re here talking of the fairly well-known British Naturalist, traveller and collector (of both birds and insects) <strong>Henry Whitely</strong> [Junior] (1844–1892), [alt. <strong><em>Whiteley </em></strong>or <strong><em>Whitley</em></strong><strong><span style="color: blue">?</span></strong>] … who made his first expedition to Japan in 1864, and then in 1867 explored Peru, and onwards the Amazons and British Guiana. </p><p></p><p>Born the 18th of June 1844 in Woolwich, England … and he died on the 11th of July, 189<u>2</u>, "in the interior of British Guyana, ...". </p><p></p><p>See the Obituary of Henry <strong>Whit<u>ely</u> </strong>in the <em>Humming Bird </em>1895 (Introduction, p.14, <a href="http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/127771#page/18/mode/1up" target="_blank"><u>here</u></a>). However: As the OD of "<em>Uranomitra whitelyi</em>", the first one commemorating the memory of the "late Mr. Henry W…" was published in Boucard's own journal <em>The Hummingbird</em> Vol III, No. 1 (March 1983) the claim of his death year in that Obituary, of 1895, (there; "Henry Whitely, Traveller-Naturalist, died on the 11th of July, 1893", a year often repeated!) clearly must be wrong.
