Quite a lot of (probably between 100 and 110) the bird species on my life list I have not seen in Britain (apart from vagrants I have seen here in the UK). However, there are a few birds that I haven't seen in the UK but are on the Official British List that I have seen abroad. For example, wintering Brambling in Spain last year. . Whenever I see a bird that I have never seen before, I will make sure this is updated. Feel free to comment.

NB: You can see my life list total in my blogspot on blogspot.com. Its advertised in my signature. ;)

Thanks very much birdboybowley. I actually wrote the life list on Microsoft Word earlier this year. I just update it every time I see a new lifer. ;)

White-winged Black Tern has been added to the life list after the distant Black Tern I saw on Saturday was re-indentified as a White-winged Black.

Grey Phalarope, Barn Owl, Cirl Bunting, and Richard's Pipit all added to the life list!

End of 2009 Life List total = 343 species
End of 2009 British List total = 224 species

Lets see what the next year of birding holds. ;)

One British tick in the form of Brambling, as well as Water Pipit and Short-eared Owl added both to the British List and Life List.

Hey Joe - I assume you've been to South Africa? If so did you see Hoopoe there because most authorities split it as African Hoopoe, so if you've seen one in Europe too then bonus (also might need to take it out the monotypic list then!;))
PS There's talk of splittng Ospreys too!

Thank you guys. Birdboybowley, yes I have been to South Africa, and I did see Hoopoe. That's interesting that most authorities split it, should I tick it? ;)

Managed to see my first Bewick's Swan yesterday, which was my worst bogey bird by a long mile. They're not at all common up here in Scotland, and it was very surprising to see one 10 miles north of Aberdeen at the Ythan.

I saw my first Firecrests, Med Gulls and a Lesser Scaup all on a holiday to Somerset and then to Dorset and Portland recently, with the first two being my main bogey birds. I also saw a lot of other nice birds but none of the others were lifers.
