Message: <blockquote data-quote="gdhunter" data-source="post: 3146700" data-attributes="member: 91605">Here's at least one other birder who concurs with that assessment.  The new edition stands on the shoulders of the first, but it is unquestionably an improvement.  Of immediate benefit would be the updated range maps and the incorporation into the main body of those three species previously relegated to a virtual addendum as "additional species".  The new edition offers 360 new illustrations, including those portraying 64 species not illustrated in the first edition.  To my eye many of the brighter colors portrayed in some species are a bit more muted in this new edition, and seemingly more consistent with what I've seen in the field (at least for those species I've been lucky enough to see for more than a few precious seconds).Gary H</blockquote>
