Hi all,

We are a couple visiting from Europe and planning 2 weeks of birdwatching around South Florida in 2nd half of February 2025.

Our draft plan includes staying 2-4 days in each the following regions

1. Boca Raton / West Beach to visit Wakodahatchee, Green Cay, Loxahatchee, Spanish River Park etc
2. Fort Myers & Sanibel to visit Corkscrew, J.N. "Ding" Darling, Harns Marsh etc.
3. Florida Keys Region (East Part)
4. Key West
5. Everglades

We are looking ideally to stay at birdwatching-friendly lodges, bed&breakfast or smaller hotels with gardens (ideally even bird feeders).

With the exception of Everglades where we found the Flamingo Lodge, we have challenges finding such places to stay.
From one side of spectrum to another, camping and large chain hotels are excluded, unless there are some exceptional situations.

In case anyone stayed at such lodges or hotels while birding, we would love to learn about your experience and advice

Thanks a lot!

Florida resident here, despite being on of the birdiest places in the US, Florida doesn't have many lodging spots made for bird/nature lovers.

Most birders just find a hotel or Airbnb in the general area they want to visit and go from there. Your best bet is finding s central spot that gives easy access to the places you wish to visit during the trip.

Also, small advice for the itinerary, give Jonathan Dickinson a visit while in Boca Raton/Palm Beach. It's a bit further north, but it's the nearest site to find the one endemic we have, Florida Scrub-Jay. The park is also good for woodpeckers and a variety of pineland species.
