Don't know whether the scoter from Grimley hopped over here this afternoon but one was asleep in the middle of Upper Tank, which made it very difficult to identify. Half the time it looked like a buoy and I was ready to dismiss it (albeit a buoy that drifted with the wind, i.e. not much use). But occasionally the bird swung round to profile, revealing obvious feathers at the rear. Its pale cheek was visible all the time, so immature or female. I couldn't see its sticky-up tail though, which is a tad unusual.

Never seen as many Little Grebe in one place as on Lower this afternoon. Must have been at least 15 gathered under the trees at the far end, and odd singles around in other areas too.

Lower .....heads up for Waders.....they are draining Lower at the moment.....

Lower - Green Sandpiper still present 2.30pm

Upper - White-fronted Goose reported at lunchtime, still present at 3.30pm, roosting along the reservoir edge. Not viewable from the dam, need to head for the footpath to the north of the reservoir.

Upper absolutely full to the brim with water. Lower showing significant amounts of wader-friendly mud.
