Delighted to have the opportunity to spend an hour or so mid-morning with the Black-browed Albatross on Friday 10th after visiting the Green Warbler with a friend.
After it had not visited Hermaness in 1988 & 1989 after 14 consecutive years, I had dipped the species in 1990 on Shetland when it finally returned (missing it by an hour or so having visited the islands to see Pallas's Sandgrouse & being on Fetlar watching a Snowy Owl when we heard that it had reappeared). It flew off before we got there. The next year we made no mistake travelling as soon as it came back and connected but the views were of it on its ledge with one brief flap. Better activity than most achieved.
So thirty years later this was special. 5 posts of 5 photos.
All the best
