Hi all,
Need your opinions on these two. I believe they are both Black Ducks.
Found this morning at 'Professor's Lake' in Brampton Ontario.
Thank you in advance.
Detlef

These both definitely have Black Duck genes in them. Both of these birds look pure to me, but I don't have too much experience with ABDU hybrids.

Second photo (male) is about as pure-looking an ABD as you're likely to find.

First photo has significantly paler plumage and an odd bill color... mostly OK for a female ABD but I'd assume some mallard genes in there too.

Thank you gents. Just got back from trying to get better pictures of them, but they appear to have moved on. These were seen on my daily trek so I will keep an eye out for them.
Thanks again
Detlef

If you see them in flight, or flapping their wings, take note of whether or not the speculum has conspicuous white borders. Pure Black Ducks won't.
