Could anyone help me with the ID of this please? Several of them were growing low down on a log by the side of a footpath.

The larger (presumably more mature?) specimens appeared paler than this one, with the blueish colour having faded somewhat.

That's a synonym for S. caerulea which seems to have been much-confused with S. aeruginosa. All the scales on the cap, and remains of a thick veil, seem to favour S. aeruginosa - but... pass 🤷🏻

Well yes, but which is the senior synonym depends on which literature/checklist you consult. Kibby 2021 uses cyanea and states "Widespread and very common" whereas aeuginoaa "Widespread but uncommon".
