Blue tit feeding 8 chicks alone (1 Viewer)

Hello!

I have a camera in a blue tit nest and sending live on youtube (search on Swedish Birdhouse on youtube). In the begining it was both a female and a male in the nest. But in the last week i saw only the female.
Now the chicks are some days old and the female is feeding them alone.
Can I help the female somehow? Last year the blue tit pair was feeding the chicks all the time, but this year only one bird is present :(.

Hi Remus and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. That's a shame if she's lost the support of her mate. The only thing I can think of is to provide some mealworms so she can get a feeding boost for herself before looking for what she needs for the youngsters. Mine will feed from a bird table or hanging feeders. But don't place too close to the nest as it will attract other birds too and may cause her stress if she thinks her young are in danger.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Thanks. I will see where I can find those worms.
I have changed the hole from 30mm to 28mm due to some fights the blue tit had with a flycatcher. Now the flycatcher stopped to come by.
