Blue tits, second clutch (1 Viewer)

Finchie

New member
Hi,
Does anybody know? There are a second clutch of Blue Tit eggs being laid in my garden nesting box. The first clutch fledged 5 days ago. Would this be the same adult pair or a different pair.
Have searched the internet but can't find an answer.

Thanks for your welcome &
help everyone. First clutch seemed successful in fledgling at least & I've seen the young birds in the garden since. Must just be very lucky & will definitely watch with interest

Most likely the original pair, suggests the nest site was safe and secure resulting in a successful clutch.
Fingers crossed.

Hi Finchie and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

Blue Tits will re-lay if the first brood is lost, but very rarely raise a second brood, in the UK... though it has been known.

I doubt another pair will be in the same territory.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Welcome to Birdforum! I am sure that you will find lots to interest you here and I hope that you enjoy your visits.

It is unusual for blue tits to raise two broods.
