Just after he discovered it he noticed a hunter close to the Brant Goose, not more then 20 meters. Naturally he assumed that the hunter was capable to identify it as the protected species as it is. Instead he raised his shotgun and killed it. Bird identification can´t be a big part of the hunters education? Perhaps more focus on handling guns.
