If there was a 'posts per pixel of bird' ranking, this would be right up there.  Have to admit that since I started carrying a camera I've often been tempted to grab an image and look properly at the bird afterwards; but that's (almost always) the wrong way around.  Ken, self-belief can be a real asset but the lack of positive evidence for Pernis and the arguments of a large sample of raptor enthusiasts here for Buteo really should make you reassess your conclusion.  Anyway, seeing a couple of photos of mine used in post #78 (no problem!) reminded me that I wrote up an ID summary a while ago and forgot it was still accessible on Google Drive; should be <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2AQYrp58xsxYjBNTzJ1bU5SanllU3p4bGVla2tMUQ/view" target="_blank">HERE</a>.  Just a lot of bla bla bla, and a few images, but I put it together it having recently devoted a lot of time to sorting out HB from CB in a variety of field conditions.  Might conceivably be of use.
