So the rubber came lose on the eyecup and now the entire binocular turns into a Chinese POS?

Yeah, I can see why a few folks have stopped posting on here.

On another note, I received the Bresser Montana yesterday. Will share some initial impressions later when time allows.

You won't be sharing them on Dennis's "WOW" channel I assume!:eek!:

Steve,

Thanks. ;)

On a more serious note I am curious if any other members/posters purchased these to try out. We only had three so far.

Here, FWIW, are my impressions of the Bresser Everest 8x42 in comparison to what I currently have on hand. If your looking for scientific comparisons stop here. These are my personal observations/preferences as I compared these 4 bins side by side in the yard and 2 by 2 in the field over a weeks time.
I have a preference for a warmer color rendition so I like the Bresser. Unlike Frank D, CCD3, and "that other guy" I find the Bresser's Ergos OK but I hate those thumb indents so that is reflected in my Ergo scores. The "Field Worthiness" category reflects how I feel each bin handles in birding situations. In the field I am partial to bright, contrasty bins with a relatively fast focus, wide FOV and at least 17mm of eye relief (I wear specs while glassing). I'm partial to 7x bins for their depth of field, and steady view. All of the bins below reflect most of those criteria to a greater or lesser degree but are all useable (IMO) in the field.
When I purchased the Bresser I wasn't expecting $2000.+ performance or build quality in a $200. bin. I was only hoping that the compromises that had to be made to offer this bin at this price point would not be too offensive. The Bresser Everest did not disappoint. It's a fine bin that comes close to the big boys in the areas that are important to me. I'm keeping mine.

Thanks for the review :) I actually really like that style of comparative review by category, as it gives a specific reference point with "known quantities".

Ditto on Eitan's comments. I like the format. I should put something like that together for what I have on hand as well.

Thank you.

Also, when the rubber eyecup cover popped off the Dressers it enabled me to see the inner mechanism of the rotating eyepieces and I was not impressed. I am not an engineer but I have seen the mechanism of Swarovski eyecups and they looked much beefier and even I could tell they would last much longer than the Bresser's. This is an area that is overlooked in the reviews we do here on Bird Forum but just as another member said it is hard to take a binocular apart and examine just how well it is built. The Chinese binoculars look pretty good from the surface but beware what lies within so it is false value to think your $200.00 Bresser because it has pretty good optics is a better value than a $1200.00 alpha because down the road I think the alpha is going to be way more durable and trouble free than the Chinese binoculars. I have had many binoculars for years with a lot of use and this is the first eyecup that has popped off on any.

What the hell Dennis??
A few days ago you put the ergos and optics of the Bresser "on par with the Swarovsky EL". Today the optics are just "pretty good" and the construction of the Swaro is "beefier".
Well, I'll be damned, the $2000. bin is built better than the 200. bin. What a revelation! Good thing that eye cup came off and you could check the Bresser's innards. Otherwise we would all be forking over our $200. bucks and thinking we were getting Swaro quality. What dummies we are. Thank you, thank you for setting us straight.
The Bresser is only "false value" if you think your gonna' get something for nothing. These bins offer very respectable performance for a realtively small cash outlay. In fact they punch well above their price point optically. I don't think anyone but you is going to buy the Bresser expecting it to be a bin their grandchildren are going to use.

Dennis is the puppeteer, the people of the forum the puppets. What slays me is how everyone complains daily, but they can't seem to help but respond over and over and over again. How many total responses do you suppose he has. Not running you down Dennis, its actually a hoot to watch the whole thing unfold, and then unfold, and then unfold, and then unfold---------. :-O

You are on the right track here, and I have said it several times, don't
feed the troll. And that applies here.

But I do need to ask, with your Avatar, what is that all about. |:||
Anything you say, has a big ?
