Brief comparison berween MHG VS EDG '8X42' (1 Viewer)

Same here too most selled bino in Korea is 50$ plastic 10x25 and 20x50 which is really 8x26 and 12x50 with approx 60% transmission.
there are still tons of peopel thinking higer magnification leads to higer grade
jackjack. What do you think of a Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared to a Zeiss FL 8x32?

brightness similar, color fidelity much better in SFL.(So SFL can feel brighter under daylight)

SFL has wider FOV and better corrected edge sharpness and pincusion distortion

Central sharpness and CA bit better in FL

size is similar but sfl is lighter.

focus more responsive in SFL.

SFL 30mm suffer from some light leakage and ghosting compared to 32FL & 40SFL

Usable ER longer in SFL that can leads to bit more blackouts to non glass wearers

Thanks! Very helpful.

Thanks! Very helpful.
If I have to go for one, I'll go for SFL.
overall optic quality is eventually better in SFL
because of much wider sweetspot and much better color fidelity.

and also it have benefit from compactness and argonomics.

but it is not necessary to trade 8x32 FL to SFL 8x30.

beacuse FL 8x32 is still one of the best 32 in the market because of it's sharpness, brightness, CA correction and compactness

Thanks! Very good analysis of the two.

I concur. I owned a very late model 8x32FL (4xxxxxx s/n) and 8x30SFL at same time and tho I love the FL build quality, I concluded the SFL was the better instrument overall. Enough so, that i sold the FLs on BF at a loss :-/

For anyone interested in the 10x models, there is little difference unless you hate the color presentation of FLs. 10x32 FL has a field flattener, and the same FOV as SFL 10x30. I think it's a real gem, and an interesting complement to the BN I've used for years which of course has more saturated color.

I've never heard of fl 10x32 have field flattener (FF)
and I have seen one with some flattener binos

edge is better then 8x32 but not as good to say it have FF

(maybe fake FF like nikon MHG?)

"Field flattener" is a vague term not always used in marketing where additional eyepiece elements are involved. (And even in some cases where the term is applied the results may seem unimpressive, as with MHG. Field curvature is only one aberration involved.) Here is one recent post by Henry Link discussing this; there was another previously in the context of MHG that I couldn't immediately locate.
