Can someone please identify/confirm this is a Broad-winged Hawk? Taken in December in Port Credit Ontario?
Thanks
Chris

An Accipiter, not a Buteo. Note long tail, etc. Adult Cooper's hawk.
Not a sharp-shinned hawk because... big bill, sloping forehead, pale sides to hindneck, dark cap, outer tail-feathers substantially shorter than inners.
I think broad-winged hawks are all way to the south well before December (for ID, best always to give the date as exactly as possible).
