Brown Bear cam in Estonia (1 Viewer)

Estonia has one of the best Lynx densities in all Europe and they are certainly in the general area ...but the chances of one wandering in front of the cam still have to be slim.

Generally, the best areas for seeing Lynx in Estonia are, I believe, the Matsula area on the coast and some of the mixed forest belts in the centre of the country.

Pair of Stock Doves now along with 7 or 8 Wood Pigeons; also a Dunnock a few minutes ago. Two new for the thread's species list? Don't recall them being mentioned before but haven't checked all 4 pages of posts.

What was that calling about 18.44 camera time - before the woody arrived. is/was that the wood warbler?

also a possible distant 'hoot'....

Heard Wood Warbler on it earlier this afternoon, so quite possible; wasn't looking / listening at 18.44 camera time so didn't hear that particular instance. Just now, teeming down with rain!

There is only one feeding location I believe, i.e. under the cover. Animals lingering elsewhere are not due to provided food, but they often did this when I was there.

There was a bear in that area for at least 30 mins tonight (camera time 2240-2310 at least). Seemed to be lying down and getting up occasionally, obscured by the tall vegetation. It would be interesting to know if there's something specific attracting them to that patch.

There's a later post where someone actually sees the bait cover being lifted in that area.

It's not been uncommon to see Racoon Dogs and corvids coming from that area with what looked like chunks of bread, when the vegetation was lower, it was possible to pick other out birds (usually pigeons/doves) there, sometimes in fairly large numbers, though they were only really seen when disturbed and taking off en masse.

If you go fullscreen at night, you should also be able to make out a dim pool of illumination above the area, suggesting that there's a lamp fitted high above there, maybe there was a plan for a second webcam?

Hadn't noticed that, but see what you mean! Maybe an infra-red source with the night camera being infra-red too? A similar source for the near feeder too, top right. Here it is from just now (01.01 local time), with the light levels enhanced:

Yes, the camera is 'IR' (I think that most natively cover much of the IR spectrum, a filter is used to reduce it to human levels), it's pretty obvious when the ambient light level is higher; I'd guess that the lights are also IR.

Does anyone (Jos?) know what the cam is attached to? There were periods a few weeks ago when it sounded like there was a number of young birds in a cavity, the last couple of times I heard them, I thought they were probably young GSW's.
