It's curious that James Jobling made it a synonym of Malacoptila 🤔

Not really related, but for James:

In the 'Lypornix' entry in TheKey there is a word 'Gemanice' which seems a typo for 'Germanic'.

And I find the typo (if it is a typo) in five different entries in my cache of TheKey.

P. S. Many thanks Laurent and Andrew for opening my eyes to Lypornix. I should have known it was a Monasa (clothed in mourning, 1827 comes before 1841, and so on). So much to do, so little time!

For the sake of grammatical precision, it's an adverb formed from the adjective germanicus : of the Germans, Germanic -- a literal translation would be 'Germanically'.
I'm not sure this form occurs in classical Latin texts, but it's homologous to latine, 'in Latin', and graece, 'in Greek'.
