Bulwer’s Pheasant bird hide in Sabah - Location? (1 Viewer)

Hello, I leave for a 4-week trip to Malaysia tomorrow and I'm doing some last minute research and note taking. I came across a bird hide for seeing the Bulwer’s Pheasant multiple times so far. In one blog post, it was mentioned being in a hilly area near Tambunan. In other posts and trip reports, a bird hide in Trus Madi was mentioned. I'm not sure if both are referring to the same hide or not.

Could someone provide any additional information they might have on the bird hide(s)? A location on the map and any practical information would be much appreciated (ex: do I need to call someone to get access? How much does it cost? etc...).

Thanks in advance!

Yes got 2 bird hides at Mt. Trusmadi forest reserve for the Bulwer's Pheasant. One via Tambunan town, and one via Keningau town. The closest would be the former. The price is RM 550 per entry per day and maximum 12 pax at one time.

I was at the Tambunan hide in March, it really is a superb experience with a whole host of great birds at the hide and along the roadside nearby. I was leading a group so our local guide arranged the visit so not sure who would be best to contact about going to the hide.

It seems that most of the hides (eg. Bornean Peacock-pheasant and Blue-banded Pitta) in Sabah are on Forestry Department land and they have a more or less flat rate for access. That's my understanding at least.
