[QUOTE="Chickadeedeedee, post: 1464534, member: 31336"] Our dear baby bunnies left us in the early morning. The place I selected was far better than I thought! There was a back road to the back road and soooooooooo I drove down the lane. On the one side was a meadow-ish area with soooo many dandelions and other tasty things to eat! On the other was a woods ........ This is a protected Park area! :t: I opened the carrier and one of the bunnies ran out like a bullet toward the woods. The remaining four needed to be coaxed out of the carrier. Three ran as a group to the edge of the woods. The remaining little one came back to the carrier. I picked him up ....... gave him a kiss on the head and told him he needs to be free. I put him on the grass and he hopped only a few steps and waited! I tossed several pieces of vanilla wafer and apple ....... There he sat! I momentarily thought to snatch him up again and keep him because he seemed soooooo frightened. But ... no.... He is a wild bunny and needs to be in the wild. He was already frightened to be a captive!!! I am soooooooooooooooooo sorry that he was frightened to be outside! I am sooooooooo sorry I will not be there to protect him and his siblings! Probably he will do the best of the five because he is soooo cautious. I sure hope so! :t: ~~~~~~~~~~> The guy who brought the bunnies in came to the hospital this morning! I quickly rambled on that I had ~lost~ his phone number but the bunnies were doing well and they turned wild and were thrashing to be free so they were released about 3 miles from my home in a meadow / park area ... they will be safe .... thank you for bringing them in ..... we did good and ultimately they were released to the wild as they should ....... thank you for bringing the bunnies in ........ I talked really fast .... He was kinda left speachless and thanked me then left. :t: :t: :t: Maybe he was truly a nice guy and just wanted to release the bunnies in his garden. Maybe he wanted a tender bunny stew. Maybe he wanted to ~hunt~ bunnies. Maybe he wanted to train his dogs to go after bunnies. ??? We will never know. The suspicious side of me far outweighed the non-suspicious and so the bunnies were released. I pray they will be safe and warm and protected! Where they were released is an area where the Turkey Vultures tend to roost. I have observed that hawks do NOT tend to hunt where there are Turkey Vultures. The Vultures are more of a ~clean-up~ crew rather than hunters. I tried to give my bunnies the best chance to survive and be happy. I hope I was right! :t: Bless my bunnies and keep them safe!
