Hi,
I hope this is the right place to get some advice.
I'm somewhat new to birding, so please ignore my ignorance.
I recently had some crows show up to my platform feeder and it has encouraged me to want to record my feeder and surrounding area. I have a dual shepherds hook with a platform feeder and a double suet block feeder, and it attracts a lot of action. The variety of birds has really astounded me, though it has mostly devolved to grackles and blue jays.
Anyway, there are a few requirements I need help with and was hoping I could narrow my search with the help of those who have gone before.
Completely offline. (Nothing subscription based, account or online requirements)
Record to local network (Have a NAS that would be perfect to store the recordings)
Quality device with quality recordings. (Money is still an object, but willing to spend some to get something that will last)
Prefer outdoor rated, but I suppose it could be mounted inside my window.
I don't necessarily need something that was designed for bird watching or even a trail camera. I'm capable and happy to run dedicated power and Ethernet instead of relying on WiFi and batteries. (Would actually prefer this route) The feeder is about 15-20ft outside my window.
I'm sure there are considerations I haven't thought of and hope I can get some feedback.
Thanks!
