Just for the hell of it, what separates this ‘ presumed’ pale male Eurasian Sparrow Hawk (Accipiter nisus) showing barrel shaped body, largest portion of the chest approximately half way down the body, pale nape, wings straighter, longer neck and head more prominent, rounded tail with white terminal band from Cooper’s Hawk (Accipiter cooperii)? Puzzling me all week this bird can be seen occasionally over Wadebridge the longer neck and more prominent head noticeably different from the local Sparrow Hawks.
Could well be that the active wing moult emboldens the Corvids Pete.Is this the Accipiter that is being harrassed by the Corvid that flies over Treraven meadow? If so, it does seem strange that the Corvid chases this bird from the direction of Ball roundabout across to the other side of Treraven wood. I have seen this on two occasions during the last week. It seems to be quite a distance to follow/harass a bird especially if it is a regular fly by.
