I've said it before but I'll say it again, it's surprising how many people, on both side of the Atlantic but more so in the US, struggle to ID Starlings.
 
Starling or Common Starling in most places including Europe, Central Asia, Southern Africa, Australia and New Zealand when English is spoken. As mentioned above, European Starling Stateside
