None on the ground. Stopped putting out ground food/bird table food last year at her request. Total number of 'feeders' when she removed them: 2 empty coconut shells which I hadn't got round to taking down before I put up fresh ones earlier in the week, 1 redundant small niger seed latern shaped feeder from last summer (with some spiders living in it) the Goldfinch never came, so I'd emptied it but left it up for some reason thinking if I saw anything land on it, I'd fill it up again! 1 squirrel proof feeder I bought last month that wasn't being used by squirrels nor any birds since it is badly designed and so I'd been taking out peanuts daily, crushing them and placing them in a seed feeder. When she counted the numbers of feeders up, she included all the above. So far, active feeder = 1 very small seed feeder with crushed nuts. also: 1 medium sized feeder with sunflower hearts, with a tray attached to catch spill. 2 Coconut shells with bought compact suet 1 Mixed tit food hanging feeder All hung from trees over borders with mature shrubs etc Garden roughly 45' x 45' - I rotate my feeders each time they empty, so if I don't have time or a pair of scissors immediately, to hand to cut them down, disinfect wash them out, they can end up hanging there with the replacements for a few days. Sancho, I've done all I can to deter pigeons completely from entering garden short of removing all feeders permenantly and even then they will come into garden since there is a very high population in the local area and I now have lots of natural attraction. I also have a bird bath, so they occasionally come in to drink, more frequently in the summer. Given the fact I do/did have feeders up, only 4 feral pigeons is actually quite an achievement compared with the numbers and diversity of other birds actually being fed imo.
