Canon 100-400mm mark II - Variable ND filter that fits with hood (1 Viewer)

Does anybody use a variable ND on the Canon 100-400mm mark II? I purchased a Tiffen filter and, as nice as it is, I cannot fit the lens hood back on with the filter fitted. Tried fitting hood then filter (which is very fiddly) and it doesn't seem to have enough thread depth to screw in properly.

Any suitable makes and combos would be very helpful.

TIA

Paul

In case anybody is having the same problem as me I got the Hoya 77mm variable ND which fits ALL my lenses with no hood problems. Not quite as sharp as the Tiffen though but acceptable.
